Our Conductor

Jordan Van Biert, MMus, BMus, is a graduate of the University of Alberta and The King’s University College. In addition to serving as Artistic Director of Vocal Alchemy and Ante Meridiem, he is Director of Music at Edmonton’s historic Trinity Lutheran Church, and Executive Director for Singspiration, a summer choral camp for youth at Concordia University College.

He has conducted and produced a number of Bach Project and Illuminations Choir projects in Edmonton over the past several years, spent a year as a guest conducting Edmonton Youth Choir, and is in demand as a clinician for workshops with choirs of all kinds.

An experienced singer, Jordan has performed with Pro Coro Canada, Edmonton’s professional choir, for several seasons, and performs with other professional ensembles (including  Scona Chamber Singers and Luminous Voices) and as a baritone soloist.

Recent engagements for Jordan include baritone solo work in in the inaugural performance of Luminous Voices (a new professional choir in Calgary), production of Hope, Faith, Life, Love, a sacred music chamber choir project in support of the Neighbour Centre, and the role of Aeneas in a Scona Chamber Singers production of Dido and Aeneas for Alberta’s Early Music Festival. In May 2013 he will conduct a second Victoria May Sing project in Victoria BC, featuring a program of double-choir masses by Martin and Rheinberger.
