Find your voice in our community of singers
Vocal Alchemy is an adult community choir open to anyone who shares our belief in the transformative power of music and our commitment to working together and growing as singers. With members from all walks of life and of all skill levels, we come together because we love to sing, we value community, and we want to inspire others.
Weekly rehearsals under the professional direction of Jordan Van Biert help us learn and grow together. You will be challenged—and supported—to reach your full potential. Our repertoire is carefully chosen and explores the rich heritage of the Western choral tradition: from its centuries-old monuments to new pieces written by living composers.
Each fall, we take in new members as we begin to prepare for a new season of concerts. We also accept new members mid-season, as space and circumstances permit.
If you are looking for a choir that balances a welcoming atmosphere with a commitment to excellence, you have found it. Use the form below to contact us for more information about joining!
Vocal Alchemy rehearses on Tuesdays, 7:00—9:15pm, September through May at St. Andrew's United Church (9915 148 St NW, Edmonton). The time commitment is greater in the week leading up to a concert, when extra rehearsals are added. There are also three retreats, held on weekends, and occasionally other workshops or events.
Our 2020-21 season was mostly virtual, with no in-person performances. Click here to learn more about our last season together!
We have no formal audition, and welcome anyone who can match pitch and wants to sing and learn with us! However, we do provide new members the opportunity of a brief voice placement session with Jordan to help him become familiar with each new singer and place them in the appropriate section. New singers can arrange this after their first few rehearsals.
"The music is challenging and beautiful; it is exciting to learn and to perform."
