Vocal Alchemy’s final concert of the 2021-22 season featured more than 100 performers in a program celebrating our music-making journey over the past two years.
Featuring music of Andrew Balfour, Mark Sirett, Eric Barnum, Timothy Takach, Eleanor Daley and is capped off with Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, a 30-minute work featuring organ, baritone solo, and chamber orchestra. This will be a return to the choir's series of collaborations with Chronos Vocal Ensemble to mount larger works with orchestra; the last such performance was held before the pandemic, in November 2019.

Vocal Alchemy’s first concert of the 2021-22 season was a celebratory return to form—not only the choir's first live performances since February 2020, but also marking the beginning of Vocal Alchemy's 20th season! "Back Home" included two short afternoon concerts on the themes of singing and community, bringing Vocal Alchemy home to its original rehearsal and performance venue, St. Andrew's United Church.
The program included a number of favourite pieces from the past five years, along with music the choir had rehearsed online during the COVID-19 pandemic. The concert featured a performance of Brian Tate's We Are One, with lyrics newly revised by the composer, as well as the Alberta premiere of Joy will lead you by Vocal Alchemy's own Stuart Beatch.
