Join the Vocal Alchemy team

as our next Choral Assistant!

Vocal Alchemy is seeking a Choral Assistant for the 2023-2024 season. This individual will sing with the choir, lead sectional rehearsals, lead full rehearsals on an occasional basis, assist the Artistic Director in rehearsals/performances, and conduct VA in performance.

 

We are seeking interest from qualified choral conductors, and will structure the position around the attributes of the ideal candidate. The choir rehearses on Tuesday nights from 7:00-9:30 PM, from September through May. This is a 9-month contract position.

Preliminary Deadline: July 28, 2023

The ideal candidate will have:

  • significant musical and choral experience

  • choral conducting training and experience, and an interest in further skill-development

  • well-developed score reading ability

  • an engaging personality, an interest in teaching, and an ability to work with singers of varied skill/experience

  • an interest in contributing to the artistic endeavors of the choir
     

A high level of vocal and/or keyboard skill is an asset.

Depending on the other commitments of the ideal candidate, compensation and workload may be negotiable. Duties, conducting opportunities and compensation will be generous and in line with skill and experience; for experienced candidates, we invite you to share fee expectations.

Vocal Alchemy is a community choral organization in Edmonton under the direction of Jordan Van Biert.

 

Throughout our 20 years, VA is has been dedicated to bringing community members together to create something extraordinary. Our performances, often enhanced by the involvement of professional musicians, feature choral repertoire celebrating a rich range of cultural, historical and musical ideas.
